KFBK FARMER FRED HOFFMAN PRESENTS A PROGRAM
by Elsina Dean, Master Rosarian
Lifetime Master Gardener “Fred Hoffman”, the producer host of KFBK Garden Show in Sacramento each Sunday will amaze you and catch your attention with his knowledge of Beneficial Insects and Plants that attract them.
The Mother Lode Rose Society will host this interesting speaker at their meeting on May 3- 2016 @ 1:30 P.M. At the Amador Senior Center 229 New York Ranch Road, Jackson, California.
Nature is filled with “good bugs, crawling and flying creatures” whose diet consists of munching on the pests that ravage your garden plants.
This meeting will give you the information and advice that you need to keep the good bugs in your yard and eliminate the spraying of chemicals which kills the “good “bugs and as well as the “bad’ ones. This speaker is an amazing “down” to earth person as he talks abut plants that attract the lacewing, ladybugs, hoverflies and other beneficials.
Favorite plants that attract the “good guys” are yarrow, dill, marguerite, dandelions and many more.
He may even include information on roses that grow in your area.
Lifetime Master Gardener Fred Hoffman is the host of the KFBK Garden Show on NewsTalk 1530 KFBK in Sacramento each Sunday morning from 8:30 a.m. to 10 a.m., followed by Get Growing on Talk 650 KSTE in Sacramento, 10 a.m. to noon. And, you can listen to the shows live via the KFBK.com and KSTE.com websites or as podcasts. Fred also has more gardening information at his website, www.farmerfred.com, and on his blog, The Farmer Fred Rant, which is “Sort of like the radio show only with better grammar.”
The May 3rd meeting featuring Fred Hoffman will be at the Amador Senior Center, 229 New York Ranch Road, Jackson CA. Meeting is free and open to the public. Bring a friend!
