Nov 2016 Program

Program Note:  Our original November speaker, Chris VanCleave the Redneck Rosarian, had to cancel due to family health issues.  Our good thoughts for healing are with Chris and his family.

Vote for your Favorite Rose and Celebrate America’s National Flower – the Rose

Speaker:  Beverly Rose Hopper, Master Rosarian and MLRS Vice President.

roseemblem1The Mother Lode Rose Society invites you to attend a special program on America’s favorite roses. On Tue., Nov. 1 at 1:30 PM, Master Rosarian and Pine Grove resident Beverly Rose Hopper will present a slate of some of America’s best roses, discuss their various characteristics so you can learn which is best for your garden, and the audience will have the opportunity to “vote” for their favorites. Which rose will get your vote for most fragrant, most disease resistant or biggest bloomer. No politics – just roses!

In this election season, we may not agree on candidates or issues, but one thing we can all agree on, is the rose is America’s favorite flower. In fact on Nov 20, 1986 President Ronald Reagan made the rose the official National Flower of the United States. At our Nov.,1 meeting, we will be voting on our favorite roses.

Thank you to MLRS Vice President Beverly Rose Hopper for stepping in with this festive program when our original November speaker cancelled. Hopper is a Master Rosarian, Horticultural Rose Judge and recipient of numerous national and international awards for roses and volunteerism.

To celebrate the rose, we encourage you to come to this meeting in rose-wear: rosy shirts, hats, scarves or whatever rosy items you may have in your wardrobe.

The Mother Lode Rose Society meeting is Tue., Nov. 1 at 1:30 PM at the Amador Senior Center, 229 New York Ranch Road, Jackson, CA. Free and open to the public.
