Jul., 11 at 1:30 PM, Member Roundtable – Topic “How to Keep Hot Roses Cool in Summer” (one week later than usual as first Tuesday is Fourth of July)
Special Bonus: Ice Cream Social
Amador Senior Center, 229 New York Ranch Road, Jackson CA
Our July program will be a Member’s Round-table, a more casual meeting which encourages and enables lots of audience participation with a “Show And Tell” type format. Last year’s Member’s Round-table was “My Favorite Tool” where members brought their top 1 – 3 tools. We enjoyed learning about what were member’s favorite garden tools, and everyone had a good time. This year’s topic is “How to Keep Hot Roses Cool in Summer” and after a scorching heatwave, the topic is especially timely.
Summer heat can be stressful for roses. Blooms may sizzle or get crispy when temperatures spike, and many varieties shrink in size during hot weather. Just like gardeners need to stay hydrated when working in the yard, roses may need an extra drink too. Our July 11th meeting (one week later due to Fourth of July) will be a Member’s Roundtable “How to Keep Hot Roses Cool in Summer.” Come share your tips and learn what works or doesn’t work for others, along with what roses tolerate hot weather (‘Over the Moon’ for example.)
Special bonus: July is our Ice Cream Social. MLRS will provide the ice cream, and members are asked to bring a topping and/or cookies to share.
